La mayor\u00eda de estas plantas se pueden encontrar en sitios donde el sedimento es suave, constituido por el limo o la arena, en ambientes con poca profundidad, pueden estar asociadas a lagunas cercanas a arrecifes coralinos o a manglares (Cort\u00e9s &amp;Wehrtmann 2009; Mart\u00ednez-Daranas, Cano, &amp; Clero, 2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Estos ecosistemas, as\u00ed como los manglares, arrecifes de coral y bosques costeros prestan servicios ambientales como lo es la fijaci\u00f3n de carbono, fijan entre 500-4000 g C\/m<sup>2<\/sup>\/a\u00f1o superando a otras asociaciones vegetales, adem\u00e1s, esta productividad suele ser mayor en los tr\u00f3picos que en las zonas subtropicales (Cort\u00e9s &amp; Wehrtmann 2009). Otros servicios ambientales es que proporcionan h\u00e1bitat a diferentes grupos taxon\u00f3micos como la epifauna, fitoplancton y zooplancton, necton, infauna, camarones, peces, moluscos, erizos, an\u00e9monas, algas, entre otros. Asimismo, son fuente alimenticia para muchos organismos y albergan especies de importancia comercial como peces, moluscos y crust\u00e1ceos que sustentan las econom\u00edas pesqueras locales (Herrera &amp; Teutli, 2017; Lara-Dom\u00ednguez, 2005).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En el Pac\u00edfico Sur de Costa Rica se puede encontrar este ecosistema, en la parte interna del Golfo Dulce, en el lado suroeste en Playa Colibr\u00ed. En este sitio se puede encontrar dos especies de pastos marinos: <em>Halodule beaudettei<\/em> y <em>Halophila baillonis<\/em> conocido como pasto tr\u00e9bol. Este ecosistema tiene una extensi\u00f3n de 27.000 m<sup>2 <\/sup>aproximadamente y se puede encontrar entre la Quebrada Grande y la Cerritos (Barquero, 2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-large-font-size\"><strong>Seagrass of Costa Rica<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sea grasses are angiosperm plants, which have flower, that evolved to be able to adapt to living in conditions of permanent flood in salt water. Most of these plants can be found in places where the sediment is soft, consisting of silt or sand, in shallow environments, they can be associated with lagoons near coral reefs or mangroves (Cort\u00e9s &amp; Wehrtmann 2009; Mart\u00ednez-Daranas, Cano, &amp; Clergy, 2009).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These ecosystems, as well as mangroves, coral reefs and coastal forests provide environmental services such as carbon fixation, they set between 500-4000 g C \/ m2 \/ year, surpassing other plant associations, in addition, this productivity is usually higher in the tropics than in the subtropics (Cort\u00e9s &amp; Wehrtmann 2009). Other environmental services is that they provide habitat to different taxonomic groups such as epifauna, phytoplankton and zooplankton, nekton, infauna, shrimp, fish, mollusks, urchins, anemones, algae, among others. Likewise, they are a food source for many organisms and host commercially important species such as fish, mollusks and crustaceans that support local fishing economies (Herrera &amp; Teutli, 2017; Lara-Dom\u00ednguez, 2005).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the South Pacific of Costa Rica this ecosystem can be found, in the inner part of the Golfo Dulce, on the southwest side in Playa Colibr\u00ed. At this site you can find two species of seagrass: <em>Halodule beaudettei<\/em> and <em>Halophila baillonis<\/em> known as clover grass.
